Therapy for Anxiety
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is more than worry. It’s the feeling of your mind and body preparing for a threat, even when there may be no immediate danger present.
It can feel like your thoughts are moving faster than you can keep up with, jumping from one possibility to the next, constantly searching for what might go wrong. Your mind becomes crowded with questions, doubts, and worst-case scenarios, making it difficult to feel settled or present.
Anxiety Symptoms
Racing thoughts that won't slow down.
Constant worry about the future.
Feeling overwhelmed or on edge.
Difficulty being present in the moment.
A sense of losing control.
Tightness or tension in the body.
Restlessness and difficulty relaxing.
Mental and emotional exhaustion.
At its core, anxiety is the experience of your mind and body staying in a state of alertness, even when there is no immediate threat present.
In many ways, anxiety is like carrying an invisible weight. It pulls your attention away from the present moment and into a future that hasn't happened yet, leaving you exhausted from trying to anticipate every possible outcome. At its core, anxiety is often the mind and body's attempt to protect you—working overtime to keep you safe, even when that protection no longer feels helpful.
Anxiety Treatment Approaches
My approach to treating anxiety is holistic, collaborative, and tailored to each individual's needs. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Therapy, EMDR, and Parts Work to help clients better understand and navigate the dysregulation that often accompanies anxiety. Together, we explore the thoughts, emotions, body sensations, and underlying experiences that contribute to anxious patterns while building greater nervous system regulation, self-awareness, and resilience. The goal is not simply to manage symptoms, but to foster a deeper sense of safety, connection, and trust within yourself.
