Therapy for Depression
What is Depression?
Depression is more than feeling sad. It is a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion that can make it difficult to experience joy, motivation, connection, or hope.
It can feel like moving through life with a heavy weight on your shoulders. Tasks that once felt simple may require tremendous effort, and things that once brought meaning or fulfillment may no longer feel the same. Depression can affect the way you think, feel, and relate to yourself and others, often creating a sense of disconnection from life.
Depression Symptoms
Persistent sadness or low mood.
Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed.
Fatigue or low energy.
Feelings of hopelessness or emptiness.
Difficulty concentrating or making decisions.
Changes in sleep patterns.
Changes in appetite.
Withdrawing from others or feeling disconnected.
At its core, depression is often the experience of feeling stuck beneath an emotional weight that makes it difficult to fully engage with yourself, others, and the world around you.
In many ways, depression is like carrying an invisible heaviness. It can drain your energy, dull your motivation, and make even the simplest tasks feel overwhelming. The world may seem less vibrant, and it can become difficult to connect with the things, people, and experiences that once brought meaning or joy. At its core, depression is often the mind and body's response to prolonged stress, pain, loss, or overwhelm—causing you to withdraw inward as you try to cope with more than you've been able to carry.
Depression Treatment Approaches
My approach to treating depression is holistic, collaborative, and tailored to each individual's needs. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Polyvagal Theory, EMDR, Parts Work, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to help clients better understand and navigate the emotional, relational, and nervous system challenges that often accompany depression. Together, we explore the thoughts, emotions, relationship patterns, and underlying experiences that contribute to depressive symptoms while building greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and connection. The goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help you reconnect with yourself, your relationships, and a deeper sense of meaning, hope, and vitality.
